A native of West Virginia, Pastor Rus comes to us from Cape Coral, FL (believe it or not he prefers cold weather). He began serving
as pastor at First Lutheran Church in January of 2011.  Prior to this Pastor Rus has spent the last 10 years as a Church Planter and Missionary with the ELCA.  Pastor and his wife, Kristie have three children ages 4, 8, and 11.

Pastor Rus considers himself theologically conservative and traditional but otherwise is a huge supporter of modern innovations.
This means he is just as at home in a clerical robe doing traditional liturgy as he is in jeans playing guitar with a praise band.

"In the end," Pastor Rus says, "the church is all about relationships: God's relationship with us, our relationship with God, his church,
and his world."

PAUL MARTIN, DIRECTOR OF WORSHIP & MUSIC  flcworship@embarqmail.com
Beginning his full-time music ministry at First Lutheran in 2002, Paul Martin serves as the Church's Director of Worship and Music.  Paul leads all adult and youth music ensembles, coordinates all worship services, and arranges much of the ensembles' music. 
Also, serving with Paul, are the children's choir director Denise Thomson, children's bell director Sarah Martin, organist Miriam Lambert, and pianist Lynnette Roth.

DORIS BERDANIER & KATHY HOSKINS, ABC LEARNING CENTER CO-DIRECTORS

Mrs. Berdanier has served as director of the First Lutheran ABC Learning Center since 2003. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics, Masters in Curriculum, and a Reading Specialist degree.  Mrs. Berdanier has attended Merrill Palmer Child Development Institute in Detroit, MI for a semester.  She also taught for 30 years in the public schools teaching in many areas of Home Economics including child development.

Mrs. Hoskins has been employed at the First Lutheran ABC Learning Center since 2000. She was the lead teacher in the Toddler Room for three years before taking an administrative position - which has led to her present position as co-director.  Mrs. Hoskins has over 200 Child Development hours in continuing education.  Her hours of availability are 6:00am to 3:30pm, and is also available upon request.
